[Source: Photocopy of original pages from Anna E. (Mrs. Homer) Flory, Lawrence, KS, letters 1981] Comments of Anna E. Flory, 1981: "I have found an old (Colyer) Clerk's book. Charted "Fairview Brethren Church," Echo, Kans., 1894. The only records of the church are the two ledgers, one Secretary the other Treasurer, all kept in longhand. I remember well as a teenager going to meetings in this church. Seems to me it was in the year 1914 or about that time they decided to disband. I notice by the secretary's records it was in 1888 plans were made for a church building. Dedication date chosen, October 19th, 1890.... There was a Brethren church in Overbook [Osage Co., KS] years back." Lone Star, KS, Fairview Brethren Church. Little is known of the congregation in Douglas Co. It was listed on denominational rolls from 1907 to 1919. There was no resident pastor. [DFD, Annual (BC)(1907-19) From the Brethren Encyclopedia, I, 468, II, 752] Lone Star Church of the Brethren, KS. Located thirteen miles s.w. of Lawrence in Douglas Co. Sometime around 1906, a union Sunday school was being held in the schoolhouse of the town. Preaching services were added some time later, supplied by several Washington Creek ministers who gave their services. Sentiment which was stirred for the founding of a separate congregation in 1916 was intensified after a number of local conversions resulted from an evangelistic tent meeting in the summer of 1917. By 1919 a meetinghouse was built. Lone Star was organized as a separate body on January 15, 1921... [TRH, Kansas (1922) 173; B.
