Brandts Congregation Announces Ministry Opportunity Brandts Church of the Brethren is seeking a man to serve as our Children and Youth Ministries Director. This is a full-time, non-pastoral position providing administrative oversight, program coordination, and direct student contact for ministries to children and youth from Kindergarten through Twelfth grade.   ANNUAL CONFERENCE QUILTING BEE

Your congregation is invited to create a block for the 2017 Conference quilts. ALL Quilt Blocks should be postmarked by May 15, 2017. Mail your quilt blocks and a dollar (or more) donation (checks payable to AACB) to offset the cost of quilting materials to: Margaret Weybright, 17132 US 6, Syracuse, IN 46567. Auction proceeds of conference quilts benefit projects to alleviate hunger.

  CHICKEN & WAFFLE DINNER

The Chambersburg Church of the Brethren will be offering a Chicken & Waffle Dinner on March 25, 2017 (Snow Date April 1, 2017) in their Brethren Life Center, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A "Free-Will Offering" would benefit Southern PA District Meat Canning. No reservations needed.

  MEET CANNING

For the 40th year, the Mid-Atlantic and SO PA Districts are co-sponsoring a Meat Canning project which previously has enjoyed a generous response and enthusiastic support. The project is scheduled for April 17-20, 24 & 25 (SIX DAYS), at the Christian Aid Ministries facility. The 2017 Meat Canning goal is to can approximately 50,000 pounds of chicken in six days of processing. From 2003 through 2016, the two Districts’ congregations gave a total of $1,040,408.64 toward this project.

  AFRICA CHURCH CHALLENGE

The Witness Commission of Pennsylvania Southern District challenges congregations to raise $26,000 to build church buildings in the Great Lakes area of Africa. The Southern Pennsylvania District, through the Carlisle Church of the Brethren, has two new church plants, along with a couple of preaching points. Started in January 2014, we are excited to see our District grow...even though it is a little far away. The churches are in Rwanda, Africa! Deadline January 15, 2017.

  2017 Annual Conference Expenses

Hotel Rate: $114/night plus 15% tax (total $131.10/night)

Parking: Complimentary self-park; $25/night valet

The Program and Arrangements Committee sets the registration fees and they are meeting August 7-11. We do not anticipate any change from this past year, but it won’t be finalized until after they meet. Advance registration should still be $285/delegates and $105/non-delegates. Registration will open mid-February and close at the beginning of June. Exact dates are not quite finalized.

  CHURCH PLANTING

God is doing a new thing through the Church of the Brethren. A movement of emerging mission points and church planting is gaining momentum. Passion is rising. Vision is expanding. Commitment is deepening. Networks are developing. People are acting. In order to support this new thing, New Church Development Ministries has made a commitment to cultivate the networks and infrastructure to support 250 new church starts by 2019.   CAMP EDER EVENTS

The Camp Eder Board is pleased to announce Bryan Smith as their new Executive Director, effective February 13, 2017.

Bryan, his wife Kelli, and their children are coming from Quakertown, PA. Bryan brings a vital and mature love for Christ, a strong background of experience as an executive director in Christian Camping leadership, and many ministry gifts for Camp Eder. We look forward to his leadership.

The Truck Stop Ministry has been operating along Routes 11 & 15 since it was founded in 1985, by the vision of the Pennsylvania Council of Churches and local churches. It became an independent, non-profit organization on November 18, 2009, celebrating over 25 years of serving truck drivers through the help of Jesus Christ and our extended community.
